A group rallied Saturday afternoon outside the Maryland Department of Labor offices in Baltimore over issues with unemployment benefits.More than a year into the COVID-19 pandemic and many people who became jobless are still reporting problems with getting their unemployment payments. Many people across the state were put out of a job due to the pandemic.The People s Power Assembly, which organized the rally, said funds from unemployment and coronavirus relief act benefits are a right to taxpayers who lost their jobs due to the pandemic, saying some people are reporting slowed payments and others who said they haven t received any payments. We have filed a Freedom of Information Act request in the Maryland Department of Labor requesting how many current, unprocessed and unadjudicated claims there are.
