Meet the farmers who grew your produce at Mount Shasta Farmers Market Staff reports The abundance of fresh, nutritious, locally-grown and locally-made food is increasing each week at the Mount Shasta Farmers’ Market as summer progresses: peaches, potatoes, flowers, plant starts, kale, lettuces, sweet peas, scapes, tarragon, microgreens galore, radishes, bacon and chicken, beef and bacon jerky, spring rolls, functional pottery, brick oven bread, sauerkraut, kombucha, spring rolls, tamales, chocolate, and much more. Held each Monday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on E. Castle Street in downtown Mount Shasta, MSFM will be celebrating National Farmers Market Week next Monday, Aug. 2, with live music by RichieG, coloring pages for kids, and temporary tattoos. (WKBT) A dairy-farming couple is reeling from a Christmas Eve blaze that destroyed a barn, killing 1,000 goats and other animals, but Stephen and Brittany Springer are relying on the faith that spurred them to name their enterprise Cornerstone Farm to help them pull through.

The Springer family lost their barn, tractors, straw, 1,000 milking goats, 15 peacocks and a dog in the fire that s believed to have started around 3 a.m. at their farm, Cornerstone Farm, northeast of Henning. The family includes husband and wife Stephen and Brittany and their five children.
