ELLSWORTH
Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies charged a Bloomington, Ind., man after investigating a crash on Newbury Neck Road in Surry Saturday.
Ronald Hawkins, 45, was driving south in a 2021 Volvo sport utility vehicle when he came to the end of the public access portion of the road and ran into a large rock wall and metal gate.
“This caused significant damage to the rock wall and gate,” said Deputy Dan Harlan. “There was extensive damage to the vehicle, and it was towed from the scene.”
“After further investigation into the crash, it was determined that Hawkins had been drinking alcohol,” Harlan said.
