The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has dismissed as a lie and a false alarm the reports on some media platforms claiming that Northerners were being killed in South-East Nigeria. In some of the reports, the Coordinator of the Northern Consensus Forum, Dr Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu and others were quoted to have “directed commodity traders and truck drivers to shun the South-East of Nigeria".

The Association of Drivers of Dangote Cement Transport, Obajana in Kogi State has directed all its members to boycott the transportation of cement to the South-East region of Nigeria. The association said the decision was taken over the security situation in the region and in Akwa Ibom state in the South-South region.
Some northern organisations engaged in economic transactions between the North and South-East regions have commenced a strike action. By implication, the northern groups have imposed an embargo on trade with the southeast region. The groups ordered commodity traders and truck drivers to avoid the region over the alleged killing of their people by members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). This was disclosed by the Coordinator of the Northern Consensus Forum, Dr Auwal Abdullahi Aliyu, to Daily Trust.
