SEARCY - El Dorado erased a three-touchdown deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter. But Searcy scored twice in the final five minutes Friday and held off the Wildcats 47-35 in 6A East action. The Lions improved to 4-1, 3-1 with El Dorado falling to 2-3, 1-3.
El Dorado’s boys finished third last year in the 5A South Conference Golf Tournament behind Benton and Hot Springs Lakeside. The defending champion Panthers bring four of their top five players back for this year’s tournament, which tees off Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Hot Springs Country Club.
El Dorado s defense pitched a shutout in the second half, surviving a pair of Hail Mary attempts in the final seconds Friday in a 21-20 season-opening win at Camden Fairview.
