Despite leading for over 87 percent of the contest, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team dropped its fifth-straight road game with an 81-77 defeat to Wingate.
Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Basketball lost its third game over its past four contests in a 91-80 defeat at Catawba on Monday night. Darius Simmons and R.J. Gunn combined for 46 points but the Bears trailed for the last 28:27 of the contest.
In the first half, the Bears were just 1-of-10 from long range in the opening 20 minutes but finished 16-of-32 from the field. After the game was tied at 18 with 9:09 to play, Catawba ended the half outscoring the Bears 25-15.
The Bears cut the lead to five points on three occasions in the second half but couldn’t pull any closer. Simmons had 15 and Gunn had 14 in the final 20 minutes with Gunn adding seven boards.
