Positive wastewater detection in Yeppoon

Fragments of SARS-CoV-2 have been detected in the Yeppoon sewage catchment. Yeppoon sewer catchment receives sewage from the suburbs of Taroomball, Inverness, Hidden Valley, Rosslyn, Mulambin, Cooee Bay, Barlows Hill, Lammermoor, Meikleville Hill, Pacific Heights, Taranganba and Yeppoon. Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said continued detections across the state is becoming more concerning. “We continue to urge anyone with any symptoms, no matter how mild to come forward and get tested,” Dr Young said. “Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, and loss of taste or smell. “This is especially important now more than ever, as we know the new variants emerging overseas are more contagious than previous variants we have seen in Queensland.

Walking trails to be improved in bushfire recovery scheme

Premium Content Subscriber only A $500,000 government bushfire recovery project will improve the pathway from Cooee Bay Beach to Wreck Point and Lammermoor Beach, including stairways, rest areas, boardwalk, a memorial bench seat and beach access. It is one of 12 projects announced by the Australian and Queensland governments to support areas of Queensland affected by the 2019-20 bushfires. Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry said the project would be a great boost for the Capricorn Coast. “The Capricorn Coast is a world-class tourist destination that we have the privilege of having right here in Central Queensland,” she said. “A project like this will help to further cement it’s position as a prime destination for locals to enjoy and interstate travels to visit.

Prime beachfront block sells for $985,000

The 70-72 Esplanade property sold for $985,000 on December 7 through Brian Hooper Real Estate. Described as one of Yeppoon’s ‘best vacant beachfront sites’, real estate agent Jared Hooper said the rare 1566 sqm block boasted two street frontage and enjoyed amazing ocean views towards The Keppels. Mr Hooper said the residential land was sold to local buyers who planned to build their dream residence and enjoy the sand between their toes each morning on the beach across from their doorstep. There has been a demand for beachfront properties on the Capricorn Coast, with two million-dollar sales recorded in the past two months.
