Assaults, carjackings, murderers and the First Six Months murder is up, the other four crimes are the worst they have ever been. The years between 2010 and 2019 where we see lots of green and yellow, spans out four decades of the lowest crime rates but since then, most crimes have jumped particularly car related crimes. Lets take a look at car assaults, carjackings and murder. The numbers have tripled from the first of the year. Assaults are at their lowest point in the first year of our data which is 2005 and has pretty much trended up since then with some relief in 2009 and 2010. Carjackings nearly tripled in the First Six Months of 2023 compared to the same period of 2019. And when we look at murders, oakland has experienced a much smaller increase, 13 compared to the same period in 2019.
