Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Mid-Ohio Valley marking 50 years | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Mid-Ohio Valley is celebrating its golden anniversary. Consumer Credit Counseling has responded to challenges over the past 50 years helping the community achieve financial independence and most notably by adapting to meet needs posed by COVID-19. “Our agency’s financial mission has not changed in the last 50 years,” Shelene Shrewsbury, executive director, said. “What we have done is find more ways to provide financial guidance to people from all walks of life. This may take the form of credit report counseling provided to those looking to borrow money for a home or car to save them the most money. It may be through our debt management program where we guide individuals through a plan to pay off overwhelming debt.”

editorial@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG Tom Frawley has been elected board president of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Mid-Ohio Valley effective January. “I am honored to accept the position of board president for CCCS,” Frawley said. “Their commitment to and practice of helping people facing financial challenges to become better educated about and take control of their finances is a goal I support. Frawley, a senior vice-president of consumer lending at Peoples Bank, has served on the board since September 2013. “Tom’s commitment to the financial health of all people made him the ideal choice for president of the Board,” Shelene Shrewsbury, executive director of Consumer Credit Counseling, said. “He has been an integral part of our board serving on the Performance and Quality Improvement, Audit and Executive committees and sharing his over 30 years’ experience and expertise in finance and community investment.”
