Tom Brady named Conservation Administrator of the Year From News Reports Commissioner of Public Works Erin Gallentine recently announced that the town s tree warden and conservation administrator, Tom Brady, has been named the state s Conservation Administrator of the Year. Brady was named the Conservation Administrator of the Year by the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions. He has served as the town s conservation administrator for 20 years, and is on the front line for the town and its conservation commission to protect Brookline’s wetlands and other natural resources, ensuring that proposed projects, big and small, meet the standards of Massachusetts environmental law.

Budget: Subscribe On Monday, I presented the Town budget to the Board of Selectmen. Here s the FairTV links of the meeting broken into two parts: Part 1 and Part 2. The Board of Selectmen budget meetings were held on Monday and Tuesday of this week. This coming Monday morning, the Board of Selectmen will take a vote on my proposed budget. My proposed budget includes a mill rate increase of 1.98%. This incorporates a $7.5 million dollar increase to the education budget, as well as $8 million dollars in spending that was supported by Town bodies to replenish the funds and accounts that were used to subsidize last year s 0% tax increase. This budget ensures the Town s long-term liabilities are fully funded. The education increase is the second highest in a decade. Marina proposed for old Greer Lumber site on Main Street

Crews cleared the site in spring 2019. A 16-slip marina is being proposed for the old Greer Lumber site at 59 Main St., right next to Besse Park. In addition to the marina, the developer Danny Warren, who purchased the property in May 2020 for $1 million has other plans for the land.  Bob Rogers of GAF Engineering, who represented Warren at the March 3 Conservation Commission meeting, was vague about the developer’s intentions, but said Warren had “really ambitious plans” for two mixed-use buildings.  He added that the development would move the site away from its past as a working waterfront, although he said exact plans have not yet been made.
