Colts Neck NJ Conover student s suspicious document causes worry

View Comments COLTS NECK - What is described as a “suspicious document” brought to an elementary school by a student prompted an investigation involving district officials and Colts Neck Police, according to letters sent to parents. But a lack of details from school officials on the incident that occurred May 4 has prompted widespread speculation and rumors throughout the 1,000-student district by concerned parents and residents. Many wonder what happened and if it presents a danger to their children. The first parental notification from Superintendent MaryJane Garibay on May 5 stated that police were called in after “an incident that occurred” at Conover Road Elementary School. Suspicious Document Prompts Investigation At Colts Neck School

Reply(1) (Shutterstock) COLTS NECK, NJ - A suspicious document found to be in the possession of a Colts Neck elementary school student has prompted an investigation led by district administration, as well as consultation from local law enforcement. In a letter to parents dated May 5, Colts Neck Township Schools Superintendent Dr. MaryJane Garibay noted that the district became aware of the document on May 4, leading administrators to immediately report the situation to the Colts Neck Police Department. Parents/guardians of all individuals involved with the situation have been contacted by administration, the letter reads. Although the situation remains an active investigation; currently, and after consultation with local law enforcement, the district believes that there is no impending danger to our students and staff.
