LAKEWOOD - All Saints Episcopal Church and La Casa De La Tia Restaurant will host one of 14 statewide “Grateful for the Shot” vaccination events this weekend aimed at promoting the safety of the vaccines and urging more residents to receive them.
The restaurant at 202 Main St. will offer the free shots between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Gov. Phil Murphy’s office announced.
All Saints Church, located several blocks away, is promoting the event as one of several around the state using houses of worship to urge people to get vaccinated, Murphy s office said.
“Each event will have a ‘block party’ feel in a trusted and community atmosphere with a mix of food, music, and prizes in order to break down barriers to accessing the vaccine for individuals and families,” state officials said.

COLTS NECK - What is described as a “suspicious document” brought to an elementary school by a student prompted an investigation involving district officials and Colts Neck Police, according to letters sent to parents.
But a lack of details from school officials on the incident that occurred May 4 has prompted widespread speculation and rumors throughout the 1,000-student district by concerned parents and residents. Many wonder what happened and if it presents a danger to their children.
The first parental notification from Superintendent MaryJane Garibay on May 5 stated that police were called in after “an incident that occurred” at Conover Road Elementary School. The full letter is available at the bottom of this story.
