Town have confirmed the signing of striker Leon Best on a one-year deal with an option for a further season. Yesterday, TWTD revealed that the 29-year-old was in talks with the Blues regarding a deal having caught manager Mick McCarthy s eye while on trial.
Town boss Mick McCarthy will be looking for the Blues to claim their first away win of the season when they take on Birmingham City at St Andrew’s this evening (KO 7.45pm). Only Cameron Stewart (broken jaw) and Stephen Hunt (calf) have missed the trip to the Midlands through injury.
Christophe Berra netted twice, the second deep into injury time, as Town grabbed a 2-2 draw at Birmingham having been behind twice. David Edgar put the home side in front on the half hour, Berra equalised for the Blues five minutes after the break, Clayton Donaldson put Birmingham back in front before the Scottish international’s late, late leveller.
Town boss Mick McCarthy is confident of adding further to his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, having re-signed Luke Varney on a short-term deal until January earlier today.
