Town have confirmed that Guinean international midfielder Larsen Touré will be moving on following Saturday s final game at Derby with his one-year deal coming to an end and the Blues not taking up the option of a further season.
Town visit Middlesbrough on Saturday with manager Mick McCarthy determined that his side should finish their season strongly, despite now having no realistic chance of making the play-offs. The Blues, who are without a win in six, are eighth in the table, eight points from the play-offs with just three games left to play.
Luke Varney and Shane McLoughlin both scored twice, Adam McDonnell netted a penalty and Larsen Touré curled home a brilliant freekick as Town’s U21s thrashed Bristol City 6-1 at Playford Road. All the Blues’ goals came in the first half with the Robins’ solitary reply Shawn McCoulsky’s penalty kick nine minutes before the end.
Jay Tabb, Larsen Touré, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Luke Varney are all set to feature for the U21s when they take on Bristol City at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).
Blues manager Mick McCarthy is looking forward to having the likes of Ryan Fraser, Teddy Bishop and David McGoldrick fit again and reiterated that he’d not be able to improve upon his current squad without “spending bonkers money”.
