i think everybody who is trying to plan around this is now picking among options that range from terrible to awful. and tom, because i follow your every word on social media, i have to hit you with a question on tulsi gabbard. she made news today saying she was not running for re-election as a member of congress while running for president. she is a lot of things. she is an iraq war veteran. she is an army major in the army reserve. she is a member of congress. she is a democrat by label. and she is a locked in a debate with hillary clinton, among others, say nothing of social media, that where she has been labeled a russian asset. what s going on here, do you think? i had always thought that tulsi gabbard was trying to stake out a position as the anti-establishment wing of both parties, of the democratic and republican parties. i don t think she thought she
had a shot at the nomination. i think she entered this as a kind of chaos candidate, and she does have a remarkable, and i think debate moderators and other democrats ought to ask her about this. she has a remarkable fluency with russian and syrian talking points. i think secretary clinton made an explosive charge, implied an explosive charge confirmed by one of her spokesmen that congressman gabbard is who she was talking about. and i think it needlessly elevated tulsi gabbard s profile. now gabbard can present herself as leading the anti-clinton, anti-establishment wing of a group of the democratic party. i think that was a self-inflicted wound and i think it was unwise for secretary clinton do that. if it s not a mess, it will do until the mess gets here. thank you for coming on. coming up for us, yet another consequential week as we said in this presidency. jon meacham will help us try to understand some of what we re looking at.
come out from behind the curtai curtain. it s now clear this primary is between you and me. don t cowardly hide behind your proxies. join the race directly. congressman gabbard joins us on the road i believe from iowa. thank you very much for coming on. thanks, tucker. tucker: just to the factual first, are you a russian sleeper cell? [chuckle] let me tell you what this is about. this is about hillary clinton sending a very strong message saying that because i am and have long been calling for an end to our country s foreign policy from regime change to regime change next ongoing in syria and calling for an end to this new cold war and nuclear arms race that i m a russian asset and a traitor to the nation i love.
of supporting her so far. and that is assuming jill stein would give it up, she might not. she s also a russian actor. tucker: hillary didn t name the democratic manchurian candidate, but it wasn t hard to guess who she meant. she was talking about congresswoman tulsi gabbard if the nesting doll fits, this is not some outlandish claim. this is reality. keep in mind this is the same nick merrill who warned road and earlier today congressman gabbard tweeted a response. here s what you rode. thank you, hillary clinton, the embodiment of warmongers, the rot that has taken the democratic party for so long has
