Dramatic scenes unfolded in the Karnataka Legislative Council on Tuesday, when the Chairman K Pratapachandra Shetty was prevented from entering the House to start a one-day special session convened over the anti-cow slaughter bill. He later entered the House and adjourned it sine die within a minute.

Pandemonium broke out at the Karnataka Legislative Council on Tuesday, as Deputy Chairman S L Dharme Gowda was literally pulled down from the Chairman s seat and the House was adjourned sine die without taking up any business.
After it was adjourned sine die originally on December 10, the council was convened for a day by the government, accusing the Chairman K Pratapachandra Shetty of abruptly adjourning the session, for today.
Though the no-confidence motion against Shetty moved by the BJP members did not find mention in today s agenda, as the Chairman had rejected it citing procedural lapses, the ruling party members have been insisting that it should be taken up.
‘Elders’ end up in fist-fighting and hurling abuses

Karnataka Legislative Council, which is considered as the House of Elders, witnessed a new low as its members pushed, pulled and abused each other this morning.
High drama prevailed as Congress members physically dragged Deputy Chairman S.L. Dharmegowda (JD-S) from the Chairman’s Chair in a bid to prevent Council Chairman K. Pratapachandra Shetty (Congress) from presiding over today’s proceedings.
The Special Council Session was called today to get the Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill passed in the Upper House as the State Government ended the Legislative Session last Thursday. Under the garb of the Bill, the BJP had planned to unseat Pratapachandra Shetty by moving a no confidence motion against him.

Chaos broke out at the Karnataka Legislative Council on Tuesday as the house was to see the tabling of the cow slaughter bill in the council. Congress MLCs were seen removing the Deputy Chairman from his seat.
As the council gathered on Tuesday, Congress MLCs in the Karnataka legislative council allegedly forcefully removed the Deputy Chairman of the council saying it was unconstitutional of him to occupy the chair. The house marshals had to intervene.
An argument broke out between Deputy CM Ashwathnarayan and the Congress MLCs on Tuesday.
