This morning, Hurricane Irma is moving like a buzz saw through the care bayne bean and will probable hit florida some time this weekend. It left most of the island without power. At least eight deaths on the island of saint martin are blamed own the storm. Irma, a category 5 storm is moving westnorthwest and just passed puerto rico. Its expected to hit the bahamas by tomorrow night. In southeast florida people are scrambling for supplies, gas, and a way to get out. A mandatory evacuation for Miami Dade County including miami beach takes effect this morning, and meg oliver is in miami beach. Meg, good morning. Reporter annemarie, thats right. Mandatory evacuations took place at noon. Were stand at one of the remaining lifeguard towers left.
Coming down with this storm. Up to 20 inches of rain expected as it barrels its way through the bahamas. Thats whats next. A 20foot storm surge for the island. This is the largest evacuation in the history of the bahamas. Several islands are being evacuated, mandatory evacuations. They had some time to try to get out but 20 inches of rain already came down for places like Dominican Republic and puerto rico, still going to continue to come down through the bahamas. Heres where its tracking. This is the turn that we are all watching. This will determine whether or not its going to hit florida directly or go just to the east of it. The spaghetti plots show it there. If a cold front comes down it could help push this storm into the atlantic. The models are looking like its going straight for the carolina.
