Take daily steps to increase DEI actions and awareness in the workplace.Eliza Blanchard, operations manager for the Talent Leader Consortiums at ATD, recently spoke with Ruchika Tulshyan, author of Inclusion on Purpose: An Intersectional Approach to Creating a Culture of Belonging at Work. During the interview, Blanchard posed the question of what talent developers can do to create a culture of belonging. Tulshyan replied, “The intentionality piece of this puzzle can’t be overstated. To cultivate a growth mindset towards inclusion, you can’t possibly get everything right and you won’t but it’s necessary to keep trying.” She explained that it isn’t about one action or training course but rather about all the actions and awareness on a daily basis, “from who owns the cafe you get your coffee from (and so, spend your money to support) to whose careers you are sponsoring.” Here are ways you can expand employees’ and leaders’ and your own daily DEI awareness and action

Jay Shetty Encourages Attendees to Find Their Purpose

Passion + strengths + service = purpose. That is the equation Jay Shetty, former monk and New York Times’ best-selling author, shared with ATD22 attendees during Tuesday morning’s keynote session. Passion. Passion takes us down paths we never expected, Shetty explained. For him, that meant skipping his college graduation ceremony and traveling to India to become a monk. He pointed out that too often we hold on to things that have worked in the past. After the prior two years, he encouraged a new way of thinking and acting and asked attendees: What are you holding on to? He then shared four habits he has learned, summed up as the acronym TIME thankfulness, inspiration, meditation or mindfulness, and exercise.Thankfulness boosts our mood and helps our immune systems. We can’t be feeling gratitude while simultaneously having anxious thoughts, Shetty noted. Writing helps, but expressing gratitude to others that is specific and personalized is more powerful, making both the recipient
