He told investigators he remembers the moment the train derails, saying, quotbue, i remember holding onto the controls tightly and feeling like, okay, well, this is it, im going over. And so i tried to brace myself. The only visual memory i have from that sequence of events is remember seeing objects fly in front of me. Amtrak 188 was going 106 Miles Per Hour when it derailed around a curve built to handle 50 Miles Per Hour. Railroad and engineering professor and consultant says there are still no reasons behind why the train was tr eling so fast.
