In 2016 we average nearly two fatal opioid overdoses in this city per day. This is a problem in desperate need of thoughtful answers. As both an anchor institution and steward of health care for our local communities, hopkins takes this problem very seriously. We see firsthand the devastation that substands care at our sister hospital to the east, the number of opioid Overdose Patients seen in our Emergency Departments doubled last year. Doubled. This crisis is very much a part of our reality. What are we doing about it .
