Corinium Radio celebrating its 15th anniversary

Cirencester s radio station is celebrating its 15th anniversary this month. Corinium Radio which broadcasts 24/7 music and talk programming aimed at Cotswold residents first broadcast on May 5, 2006, on a temporary radio licence. It has since gone on to become one of the UK s most successful community radio stations, having been shortlisted in the nationwide Community Radio Awards in 2019. May marks the launch of a 15th anniversary year for the organisation which is run entirely by volunteers with plans in the pipeline for activities over the upcoming months that will celebrate the achievement. These include the launch of 15 facts about the station, which will aim to give the local community a greater insight into its work.

Barry s Bro Radio is Community Radio s station of the year

Nathan Spackman, operations director at the station, said: “We were delighted to be nominated for this award but to win it is unbelievable. “2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and this win is a celebration of the station and our wonderful team of volunteers, who work so hard to create brilliant local radio for the Vale of Glamorgan. “I can’t thank every member of our team, the local businesses and everyone in our community who supports the work which we do – thank you.” In 2019, the annual awards were held in Barry’s Memo Arts Centre but this year were held online on Saturday, December 12 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
