For a very long time, Baldwin Township, which encompasses McKerrow, has been considered a bedroom community to the larger Town of Espanola. Located just three kilometres east of the Espanola turnoff of highways 17 and 6, the hamlet was incorporated in 1927.
It was named after FA Baldwin in the late 1800’s.

Today, Baldwin Township has 551 permanent residents and a large number of seasonal residents as well within its border.
In recent years, the township has seen many upgrades and improvements, creating a welcoming and family-oriented feel for residents and potential residents. Many of the new features of the township encourage outdoor activity and community gatherings.
