That could be vulnerable. Im Dianne Gallagher reporting. Members of a coralville based nonprofit clinic are planning to go to haiti next week to help with stormrecovery efforts. The Community Health initiative haiti has been making trips to the island nation since 2012 to offer free medical and dental care. Volunteers travel there five times a year and offer a week long clinic. The trip was already scheduled, but now theyre planning to bring extra supplies to help people impacted by the hurricane. The gr director says the area where they work didnt get hit as hard as expected. What we were hearing on the news that it was going to be rain and lots of wind, and fortunately for our area, we had more of a Tropical Storm and so we didnt have quite as much rain or wind. Yes, Bruce A Coralville based group of volunteers is actually heading down next week. The group is called Community Health initiative haiti. The Nonprofit Organization has been going to haiti for years to setup week long free Medical Clinics. This trip was already planned, but the group of 28 volunteers is each planning to take an extra suitcase of supplies to help with recovery efforts. Where they hold their Medical Clinic was not hit as hard as some areas. But they have staff who live down there who were in the town of lagon. There was a lot of flooding in the downtown area, which is similar to newbo, and we dont what thats like in iowa, so it was pretty devastating for a lot of people there.
