LANCASTER - City officials and community leaders met with representatives of the Fraternal Order of Police Monday to discuss the FOP Lodge s future.
Lancaster Mayor David Scheffler said he called the meeting after several citizens expressed interest in saving the building. It s a very large and expensive project to do that, Scheffler said. Whether there s resources and a will is another story, but we ve started the conversation and hopefully it ll go somewhere.
The lodge - formerly a train depot located on S. High St. in Downtown Lancaster - was severely damaged by fire caused by arson during the early hours of Feb. 27. The total damage was estimated at $100,000 with the restrooms and HVAC systems being destroyed.
