LANCASTER - City officials and community leaders met with representatives of the Fraternal Order of Police Monday to discuss the FOP Lodge's future.
Lancaster Mayor David Scheffler said he called the meeting after several citizens expressed interest in saving the building.
"It's a very large and expensive project to do that," Scheffler said. "Whether there's resources and a will is another story, but we've started the conversation and hopefully it'll go somewhere."
The lodge - formerly a train depot located on S. High St. in Downtown Lancaster - was severely damaged by fire caused by arson during the early hours of Feb. 27. The total damage was estimated at $100,000 with the restrooms and HVAC systems being destroyed.
