Centre tightens noose to curb financial frauds & unsolicited messages using telecom platforms
New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) With an aim to make digital transactions secure, reliable and trustworthy, the Centre has tightened noose to prevent financials frauds like in Jamtara in Jharkhand and Mewat in Haryana wherein fraudulent activities has been done using telecom platform.
A high level meeting chaired by the Union Minister for Information Technology and Communication Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday asked the officials to take strict action against erring telemarketers and individuals involved in harassment of telecom subscribers with a clear directions of taking strict and tangible action to stop such activities immediately especially to the telecom resources being used to carry out financial frauds and dupe the common man of his hard-earned money.
After years of wait, border areas of east and south-eastern Tripura to get mobile connectivity
Agartala, Dec 22 (UNI) In order to strengthen telecom connectivity in remote parts of Tripura, Ministry of Telecommunication has sanctioned installation of 392 new mobile towers for different telecom operators in Tripura.
The officials here today said that a long stretch of east and south-eastern parts of Tripura did not have access to telecom services due to unavailability of mobile network due to proximity to Bangladesh. The security forces deployed in those pockets have been also disconnected due to the absence of mobile network.
Lok Sabha MP from East Tripura Rebati Tripura had recently taken up the matter with Union Telecommunication Ministry and detailed the dismal situation of poor telecom and internet services.
