New Delhi: In the context of the ensuing budget presentation on February 1, the size of fiscal deficit, apart from other indicators, will be keenly watched and commented upon by public finance experts. Fiscal deficit, a somewhat technical term, needs to be understood unambiguously to grasp its significance in the annual budgetary exercise.
Fiscal deficit, an internationally used concept, shows the excess of all expenditure, both revenue and capital, over revenue receipts plus non-debt capital receipts. Thus, Fiscal deficit = Total expenditure – (Revenue receipts + Non-debt capital receipts).

New Delhi: The government could look at providing deductions for expenses incurred by salaried employees while working from home in the upcoming Budget as it looks to boost demand, consulting firm PwC India said on Thursday. Addressing a pre-budget session, Pwc India senior tax partner Rahul Garg said demand creation is particularly focussed on money being given or left in the hands of the individuals.
