Attempted Murder Suspect Drags NYPD Officer with Car During Traffic Stop

A Queens man who was released without bail after he allegedly shot another man during a robbery in February dragged an NYPD officer with his car during a traffic stop in Brooklyn on Friday, police said.
Takim Newson, 32, was arrested on Long Island after body camera footage caught him reversing his vehicle during a car stop in Brooklyn’s 71st Precinct which includes parts of Crown Heights, Wingate and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens around 3:50 a.m. on Friday, the NYPD said.

The woman charged with fatally striking an NYPD officer Tuesday while allegedly driving drunk broke down in tears as she was led away from a Queens precinct.
“I’m sorry that I hit him and that he’s dead,” Jessica Beauvais, 32, said outside the 107th Precinct, according to video from News 12. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to.”

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) An NYPD officer was struck and killed overnight while directing traffic on the Long Island Expressway.
Officer Anastasios Tsakos was a 14-year veteran of the department. The 43-year-old leaves behind a wife, 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son.
“We stand here devastated and trying to pick up the pieces of what is a shattered home and a shattered NYPD family,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said.

Tsakos was assisting other officers investigating an earlier fatal crash when a Volkswagen veered and struck him head on
The driver, 32-year-old Jessica Beauvais of Hempstead, sped away from the scene before being apprehended by police
Police said Beauvais was driving while intoxicated and with a suspended license
She is now facing several charges including vehicular manslaughter
