Guernsey County commissioners met with representatives from other county agencies to discuss assessment concerns raised by the owner of property on Clay Pike Road.
The assessments were levied in 2006 in connection with a waterline construction project completed by the county. The property owner does not believe she should have to pay the assessments because some of the property was sold, said Commissioner Jack Marlin. But, the property owner is required to pay the assessment connected with their parcel.
According to county officials, the initial 20-year assessment in question was divided into seven assessments when the property was transferred from the previous owner to his son and daughter-in-law.

Matt Whitehead Selected to Succeed Jack Kenney on Park Board
The Decatur Park Board of Commissioners has selected a candidate to fill the unexpired term of Commissioner Jack Kenny. On Tuesday, the Decatur Park Board of Commissioners unanimously selected Matt Whitehead to be appointed to complete the remaining two-year term.
The Board’s appointment of Whitehead to the vacant Commissioner position endorses its goal of having individuals in leadership positions who are involved in the community, committed to serving the Park District, and bring desirable skills to the Board’s leadership.
“The Board of Commissioners was impressed by Mr. Whitehead’s experience, organizational leadership skills, finance background and history of board service which are qualifications we felt made him an excellent candidate for this appointment. His passion to give back and do all he can to help this community be the best it can be matches the mission of the Park District,” stated Stacey Young,

ST. PETER Nicollet County commissioners unanimously approved a separation agreement with human resources director/assistant county administrator Jamie Haefner Tuesday.
Action came without discussion on a motion by Commissioner Marie Dranttel, seconded by Commissioner Jack Kolars.
On April 2, commissioners accepted Haefner’s resignation. Under the agreement, in exchange for the release of claims, the County shall pay Haefner her regular salary at her final rate of pay, dental, and health insurance contributions through June 25, beginning the pay period after her right to rescind her release of all claims expires.
Haefner is deemed to have elected COBRA coverage effective April 2. No additional leave benefits shall accrue following her March 25 resignation date.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Election days for city employees are now paid holidays. Voting on election day is more than just about voting too, this gives people the opportunity to give rides to the polls and be involved in other things, said Commissioner Jack Porter.
Tallahassee s city commission voting unanimously to make the change, with a $67,000 cost to the city.
