Commissioners hear assessment concerns raised by property owner

Guernsey County commissioners met with representatives from other county agencies to discuss assessment concerns raised by the owner of property on Clay Pike Road.
The assessments were levied in 2006 in connection with a waterline construction project completed by the county.
"The property owner does not believe she should have to pay the assessments because some of the property was sold," said Commissioner Jack Marlin. "But, the property owner is required to pay the assessment connected with their parcel."
According to county officials, the initial 20-year assessment in question was divided into seven assessments when the property was transferred from the previous owner to his son and daughter-in-law.
