My name is eric willett. Im an aid, senior investigator analyst with enforcement division. Im here to provide an update on staffs efforts to revise the penalty policy into the streamlined administrative Resolution Program. At the august 2019 Commission Meeting, directors commissioners directed staff to move forward with the policy to reduce incertainty and time spent negotiating a settlement by providing a level of standardization and predictability to the commissions Enforcement Program. At the september 2019 meeting, staff delivered a process outline with eight steps and appear today to deliver step four by detailing the progress staff made on steps one through three. So address your question specifically, we have a very Good Relationship with the police, but at times, it seems their mission is different than ours, and we are able to help the people that need help with the Behavioral Health team of street medicine. Theyre part of the criminal justice program. And i would assume its my opinion that theres many people in this room that would agree, that if somebody is unable to care for themselves or they have some mental instability, and thats typically what it is, that thats not Law Enforcements jo
Feel that something must be done. So one route of placing them on hold wouldi be special calling of Police Officers. Police officers are quick to place someone on hold that are a harm to themselves. But disabled is another, and Police Officers in my opinion are not the best agency to do that.
