(SoCalGas), Young's Commercial Transfer (YCT), one of the largest agricultural trucking companies in the United States, and OPAL Fuels, a leading producer and distributor of renewable natural gas (RNG), are showcasing YCT's commitment to help decarbonize California by transitioning its fleet of heavy-duty trucks to operate on RNG. These ultra, low-emissions trucks are fueled at stations built, owned and operated by OPAL Fuels across the San Joaquin Valley. The RNG will be delivered via SoCalGas' pipeline network. Sacramento, CA - Christopher Renfro filed suit against numerous defendants primarily for injuries he allegedly sustained after being exposed to agricultural chemicals while employed as a truck driver.
He sued his former employer, Young s Commercial Transfer, Inc. (YCT), as well as a host of other defendants who were involved in the application of the chemicals. These other defendants are Lakeland Aviation, Inc.; Erik J. Hansen; H&G Farms, Inc.; J.G. Boswell Co.; J.G. Boswell Tomato Co-Kings; and J.G. Boswell Tomato Co-Kern.
He contended that during his employment, YCT on multiple occasions sent him to pick up loads of tomatoes in an area where the Applicators were applying agricultural chemicals to fields via an airplane. YCT allegedly should have known of the Applicators crop-dusting activities. Weeks before the harvest season ramps up, trucking agencies are sounding the alarm. Simply enough, they’re facing an unprecedented year with driver shortages.
Joe Antonini has been in the trucking business for 35 years, but Antonini Freight Express in Stockton has been a mainstay in the area for 95 years. Even with decades of experience under his belt, he said that agriculture hauling has never seen a driver shortage like this for March, April, and May.
Antonini has been trying to hire drivers in the San Joaquin Valley to move nursery products, but he said hiring efforts are coming up short by about 40%.
