GOMBAK: Three men were detained in connection with a spate of vehicle thefts in Rawang.
Seven stolen vehicles were also seized during the operation held from Saturday (Jan 2) until Tuesday (Jan 5).
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe said police arrested a man in Rawang town at about 2am on Saturday in connection with a missing Honda Civic, which was reported stolen in Bandar Tasik Puteri Rawang in October last year. We seized four Touch N Go cards from the suspects. Further investigation led police to monitor a man, who was dismantling a Honda Civic near the Rawang Perdana flats at about 5.30pm on Sunday.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe said in the 9pm incident, a team of policemen on patrol spotted the two suspects, aged 28 and 31, in a car behaving in a suspicious manner along Jalan Besar Selayang.
He said police ordered the driver of the vehicle to pull over for an inspection but he instead sped off towards Rawang, leading the patrol car to give pursuit. The team, with the assistance of traffic policemen, gave chase until the vehicle reached the Rawang town before it changed direction and headed towards Kota Damansara.

GOMBAK: Police have busted a syndicate that issued fake medical certificates (MCs). On Nov 24, the complainant in the case, a doctor at a private clinic in Kundang, received a call from a company in Puchong to authenticate an MC which was handed in by a worker. No records of the MC were found, and a copy of it (the MC) was given to the complainant for verification. It was confirmed to have been fake, said Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe in a statement on Thursday (Dec 17).
Investigating the matter further, the doctor called a number that was printed on the MC.
