The live music industry and entertainment venues are one of the industries to take a giant hit from the pandemic, and any help to keep them running is necessary.
Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced on Wednesday that over 100 live music and entertainment venues across the state have received a $3.4 million grant. The grant came through the Michigan Stages Survival Grant Program which was incepted to help music venues that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
101 venues in 30 Michigan counties were eligible for the grant and each were awarded up to $40,000 to help cover payroll, rent, mortgage, any other costs to help the venues reopen. A full list of the venues that received the grant can be seen here. The following 15 are located in West Michigan:

th year and despite the virtual format, Gildaâs Club Grand Rapids said there will truly be something for everyone.
Laughfest is in 2021, promising all the star-power and good times and from years past.
Wendy Wigger, the President of Gildaâs Club Grand Rapids said, âIf thereâs ever a time that we needed something to laugh about and to stay connected around, this is the year that that needs to happen.â

On Thursday, Gilda’s LaughFest announced all the top acts participating in this year s virtual festival which runs from March 11-14.
According to a press release from Gilda s Club, headliners and events that are scheduled as part of the festival’s premium all-access content, which is paid. This year s headliners include: Ron Funches, Tom Papa, Justin Willman, Michelle Wolf, The Comedy Project’s “3 Mics & a Movie!,” and the stage performance “Bunny Bunny: Gilda Radner” directed by Emmy award winning director Teresa Thome.
