Billy Ray “Bill” Berger, was a man with character and a deep devotion to his family. A man whose humor was infectious, and whose selflessness ran deeper than the rivers and bays he fished. Bill passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2024 at the age of 73. He lived a life full of adventure, hard work, and an ever-present helping hand.

TROY LEE MCQUEEN

Troy Lee McQueen, 76, of Columbus, Texas passed away on Jan. 15, 2024. He was born in Denison, Texas on Feb. 23, 1947 to Mamie Louise Boney and RV McQueen. He spent his early years in Bonham, Texas. Troy charted his own course, leaving high school to enter the Army at the age of 17. Troy was assigned to the Nike Hercules Missile Command, then transferred to Redmond, Washington

Columbus VFD receives help from Weimar, seeks help for family

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Volunteer Fire Department successfully put out a structure fire on New World Drive with the help of the Weimar Volunteer Fire Department. The combined force prevented the exterior from being engulfed in the flames. There was no physical damage to the family residing in the structure, but the fire resulted in a total loss of the interior.
