The fire that swept through the Columbia Meadows Apartment Complex early Tuesday morning sending three people to two different hospitals began accidentally near a living room couch inside one of the apartments, the Columbia Fire Marshall’s Office said.
The determination was made by investigators with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Columbia Police Department. We have determined that the fire was accidental, said Columbia Fire and Rescue Chief Ty Cobb. We are complete with the instigation, and it has been turned over to the property owner.
The property remains gated and secured. More than a dozen of the property s residents were displaced due to the fire.
