This morning a mix of some snow, freezing rain, and rain will fall in central iowa. The precipitation will be all snow in northwest iowa through the day. We may see some slushy snow mix in with the precipitation on and off through the day in des moines, especially north and west of the metro. But overall, the afternoon for the city of des moines looks to be primarily rain. Less than an inch of snow may fall in des moines by the time the system pulls out tuesday morning. Stretcher during todays deadly fivehour shootout and standoff between police and the alleged gunman at a Colorado Springs planned parenthood facility. Two people along with the university of colorado and Colorado Springs Police Officer Garrett Swayze were killed. I heard someone shooting. This distraught man rushed to the clinic after hearing gunshots on the phone talking to his sister, who was at the facility for an appointment. She was calm. Of course trying to hide from the people. Reporter Law Enforcement storeses say the suspect started to shoot in the parking lot before moving into the facility. Officers were met with gunfire. The bulletproof windows proved a challenge for police. Businesses in the area immediately went on lockdown, even as police slowly evacuated the clinic the shootout with the suspect lasted for hours. We got officers in the building at the planned parenthood and the officers suspect and make communication with him. At that point able to get him to surrender.
