Girl, 16, hit and killed by car in Colonie, police say

COLONIE A volunteer firefighter struck a 16-year-old Albany girl with his car Thursday evening, killing her by accident, police said.
At around 10:38 p.m., San-ya Blaylock finished her shift at Kentucky Fried Chicken on 1235 Central Ave. As she crossed over to the bus stop on the south side of the street, the 20-year-old firefighter from Colonie struck the girl with his 2009 Hyundai in the westbound lane.
Police said the vehicle hit Blaylock near the intersection of Central Avenue and Frederick Avenue.
Police said the driver, who was not injured in the crash, got out of his car, moved the girl out of the travel lane and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Another fireman and a police officer arrived at the scene and tried to assist Blaylock, police said.

COLONIE A town man trying to dislodge his car from a median in a pharmacy parking lot was killed when the vehicle rolled and pinned him to a building Friday, Colonie police said.
Police said they were called to 1097 Loudon Road at 2:44 p.m. First responders arrived to find the car had been moved but the man was in cardiac arrest due to trauma. The man, Dirome Williamson Jr., 45, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said.
According to police, Williamson was driving the 2012 Kia through the lot of the Caring Wellness Pharmacy when he got it stuck on a small traffic island. All four occupants left the car to try to push it off the island.
