out the motivation of that. clearly it was because the president shouldn t have been involved in drafting a memo on a meeting that he wasn t even present at. he was clearly trying to defend something where he believed it was either harmful to him or his family at that point. is that in and of itself the worthy of investigation? the reason i ask that is because the house majority leader, kevin mccarthy, over the weekend in an interview basically said he sees no evidence of collusion, and because of that this whole thing should be done right now. well again, i didn t see that particular interview. i do worry about this, the collusion piece i think needs to come to some conclusion. mueller either needs to say, yes, there was collusion, or here is exactly what the russians were doing to try and influence u.s. elections. i think that second part of that by the way, john, nobody disputes that. everybody understands, republicans, democrats, all the intelligence agencies say, yes, the russ
concerns about foreign money laundering or that a foreign power could have some kind of leverage over the president. there are concerns that pardons were promised by the president or his lawyer leading mueller to potential obstruction of justice prosecution. new reports on the campaign s contacts with russian officials. that could be part of the collusion piece of the investigation. and, of course, there is the issue of hush money allegedly paid to women who say they had affairs with trump, a lot for bob mull tore mueller to ask about if and when he and the president meet. barbara mcquade former u.s. attorney, now an msnbc contributor. matt, let me start with you. the mueller investigation today was described to me by someone from law enforcement who admonished the iceberg analysis and said it isn t an iceberg. it is an underground civilization with little bees working in so many, you know, rooms and towns and part of the city. you have no idea what you have
after a series of kind of racist facebook posts were unearthed. he feels he s been throwned you the bus and does not have any loyalty to donald trump. his loyalty is to roger stone. what s trump most worried about, the business end, obstruction end or the collusion piece. where is he most worried. the financials because the tax returns he s still trying to hide. i think mueller probably has them. i think he has them but he doesn t want them released. there s a reason for that. why? because he s not rich. maybe shows evidence of wrongdoing. his hands are smaller than we thought. thank you, kim wehle and natasha. despite reports the white house is descending into power madness, according to trump there s no chaos only great energy. after today s adviser, who does the president think he s fooling? hey, need fast heartburn relief?
vice-president. one person present later told me no one understands that at the white house, we weren t briefed about the fbi s investigations. we had no information on collusion. all we saw was what the russians were doing. the fbi puts anything about americans in a lockbox. so, someone who has worked at the fbi, does this seem plausible to you? it does. you know, there would have been conversations, i imagine, in the intelligence channels either through the dni or the fbi director themselves with the national security council that likely would have gotten to the oval office that included what the russians were doing in a whole bunch of places. remember, the collusion piece is one thing. what the russians were doing is using old tactics that they had been participating in since the 1970s and 80s and 90s, even the 60s and the race riots they were trying to sow chaos, but they didn t have the internet. they re getting better. in 2014 we saw this real change in them where they could
thing that leapt out at you. there s no discussion of the hacking and dissemination of e-mails. there s abundant evidence that the russians did that. this could have been included. indeed, if that was going to be the end of the story, it would have been included. you would want to make the most complete and powerful case against what the russians did. these two things complement each other. they explain the whole story or a large part of the story. you don t do it if you re not ready for some reason on that piece. it s not because they weren t ready on the russian piece. it may be because they weren t ready on the collusion piece. that is, would u.s. persons be included in that conspiracy to defraud the u.s. and violate u.s. election laws? i don t know that mueller has reached the conclusion about whether he can prove that beyond a reasonable doubt or not. it seems to me that the reason you don t include that in the first indictment is you re still working on that part of the investiga
