We led the fight for clean power s. F. And have some of the worlds strongest Environmental Standards like the styrofoam ban ordinance i spearheaded in 2016, but were what our federal leaders are doing is going backwards. Kelly. She is someone had has served at the helm of the city for decades and is a great public servant. And would have been a perfect fit for the interim mayor role. For very similar reasons as to why the board in 2010 had shr selected then city administrator ed lee. I know she is close to ed lee and would have carried his principles and policies forward. Ed lee is the mayor that the voters have voted for and in many ways it makes sense to honor that by nominating naomi kelly, but i did not want to create a show by nominating her and asking her to come down here. I did ask her and she said she would not be able to accept this position and that the best way she can continue to serve the city is as city administrator. But i did think it was important for members of the public to understand why a formal nomination was not done, because we received many emails on behalf of ms. Kelly. And i want to thank ms. We provide Free Immigration Services to courageous women and children who have suffered genderbased violence. I was the director of the antitrafficking and i want to tell you a story about my client, well call him adam. He is from indonesia, grew up in poverty. He was recruited to work as a seaman. They promised him good wages. They arranged his transportation and documentation from indonesia where he boarded a large fishing boat. Out in the middle of the sea, he was transferred to two other boats against his will and in violation of his contract. On the last boat he worked on, life was a nightmare. He worked under terrible labor conditions, upwards of 20 hours a day. The captain denied him sufficient food, threatened him and physically assaulted him if he did not work. Human trafficking has a range of activities. He was a victim of labor trafficking. It was docked here in San Fran

Most people want to qualify, but its a few that causes a problem for all of us who view the process as a financial cost. They go to the hearing, and then they get an order of abatement, and then they get it to you, and they ged t it recorded on title, and they dont get it. I think there needs to be a process where people can point out the projects that are causing problems to everybody and have that conversation, maybe just a simple form, little written description that comes to litigation commit see so you guys can bring in the City Attorney. Because once the City Attorney gets involved, everybody pays attention.
