These 2 Austin high schools rank among America s best, says U.S. News A great school is always worth celebrating. Photo by skynesher/Getty Images It’s report card time, and two Austin high schools have made the grade, earning top 100 spots in this year’s prestigious U.S. News & World Reportrankings of the Best U.S. High Schools.  Austin s Liberal Arts and Science Academy earns the No. 41 spot in the nation and is the fourth highest-ranked Texas school on the list. It received an overall score of 99.77 and also ranks No. 60 nationally among schools that specialize in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Photo by skynesher/Getty Images It’s report card time, and four Dallas high schools have made the grade, earning top 100 spots in this year’s prestigious U.S. News & World Reportrankings of the Best U.S. High Schools. One even merited a special distinction. Dallas   School for the Talented and Gifted is the highest-ranked Texas school on the list, earning a spot at No. 13 (slightly down from No. 6 last year). It’s followed closely by The Science and Engineering Magnet School comes in at No. 39 overall this year, and is also ranked No. 3 nationally among schools that specialize in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). It is the only Texas school to earn a top five ranking in a special category.

Topeka USD 501 TCALC students speak at national school conference

Topeka West freshman Brenna Rutschmann knew she d been given a great opportunity, but she still wasn t sure if she wanted to take it. Rutschmann, as well as fellow Topeka Center for Advanced Learning and Careers students Olivia Tatum and Maya Welcher, were given the opportunity to virtually speak to the National School Boards Association during its annual conference and share their thoughts on school on a national stage. Rutschmann, like her two peers, was a bit nervous about the opportunity, especially considering the national scope of the audience. But after her friends told her she d be silly to turn down such a momentous opportunity to be a voice for students, she agreed to be on the virtual panel, which included their College Prep Academy English teacher Kathy Foster and Topeka Board of Education member Rev. John Williams.
