Theatr Clwyd in Mold. After 44 years as part of the local authority, Theatr Clwyd is now an independent trust. The move, from April 1, will enable the Flintshire-based arts centre to plan long-term for arts and cultural provision in Flintshire and North Wales, and remain agile, efficient, and competitive as one of the UK s leading arts organisations. For Flintshire County Council, whose close collaboration with the theatre in driving improved wellbeing and cultural provision has received national acclaim, the move guarantees the long-term delivery of world-class theatre, arts and entertainment, educational youth music, and the theatre s extensive community wellbeing and resilience work.

The Old Rochester Regional Debate team has brought its season to a close, with a number of members placing well in competitions.
The 25 students on the team debated over zoom against 15 other schools from across the state.
“Debate has been my favorite club these past four years,” said Senior Co-Captain Emma Vivino of Marion. “While it was sad to have my senior year be a virtual debate season, I feel so lucky to have been able to work with the wonderful members of my debate team.”
COUNCIL tax in Flintshire is set to rise by less than four per cent, the council says. Flintshire Council says that annual rises in council tax of five per cent or more are no longer acceptable . This year the council plans to contain the annual increase in council tax to under four per cent in keeping with that line. This will amount to a weekly increase on a Band D property of about £1.00 a week. The authority s cabinet meets later this month to make final recommendations for setting a balanced budget for 2021/22. The local authority says it has made £100m of savings over the past decade to make it as efficient as possible and to shield front-line services from damaging budget cuts.
