It’s all over the music, from the band s name to the title of its new album, “Shine & Shade” not to mention Future Relics dual lead singers and its poetic, folk rock songs.
The new release, along with albums from Wilmington-based acts Nicolay and D&D Sluggers, helps close out a strong but tumultuous year in local music.
Rollicking and heartfelt, “Shine & Shade,” recorded by Ian Millard, is also intimate enough to place you in the room with the band. Singer Kyle Lindley acknowledges the band’s yin and yang, namely he and Brandon Rougeaux’s differing styles and approaches. This music feels organic. You hear it breathe, and it has a handmade quality as opposed to an assembly-line feel.
