COLD SPRING A Cold Spring family for two months has been the target of alleged racist harassment that came to a head Saturday when a stolen SUV with a piece of granite on the accelerator crashed into their home.
The vehicle hit hard enough to cause extensive damage to the house and shifted a vehicle inside the family s garage, according to Stearns County Court documents. A child was sleeping in the living room at the time of the crash, just a short distance from where the vehicle struck the house.
Inside the SUV a teddy bear hung from a noose, according to photos shared by the homeowners, Andrea and Phil Robinson, with the St. Cloud Times. There is a video of the crash as well.
Mayor Releases Statement After Alleged Racially Motivated Crash
Andrea-Phil Robinson posted pictures of the damage to her home on Facebook saying,
This is our HOME, a place that is supposed to be safe. That is a stolen truck, the sole occupant is a bear hanging from a noose. The driver hopped out and watched it crash- my boys asleep a few feet away. Two broken windows, one camera shot, harassment order violated twice- he is finally behind bars.
WJON News did reach out to the Cold Spring-Richmond police department to get the police report on the incident that happened on Saturday in Cold Spring, however, the police chief was out of the office on Monday.
