India is all set to kickstart its mega vaccination drive against coronavirus on January 16, prioritising around 30 million healthcare and frontline workers in the first phase.
Ahead of the mega drive across India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual meeting with all the Chief Ministers of all states on Monday, January 11, to discuss the pandemic situation and the vaccination roll-out in the country.
As the COVID-19 vaccination drive in India set to roll out soon, Serum Institute of India (SII) officials confirmed that it has received a purchase order for its vaccine Covishield from the Centre.
A source closely involved in logistical arrangements said the movement of vaccine doses is likely to start from early Tuesday morning through road and air routes amid elaborate police security.

Covishield, the coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca will be sold at Rs 200 per dose. Sources within the Serum Institute of India (SII), Oxford University and AstraZeneca s partner in India told India Today that the price of each dose of the Covid-19 vaccine was always fixed .
