Noles End Regular Season at Nuttycombe Invite

Results Crimson Classic | Results Nuttycombe Invite    Madison, Wisc.    –  Known as the most competitive and toughest race in the regular season, the NR/No. 24 Florida State cross country teams closed out the 2022 regular season at the Nuttycombe Invitational, which was held on Friday at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisconsin. The 24th-ranked women’s team stepped to the line for the 6k race alongside 35 other teams.  FSU was one of the 28 squads carrying a national ranking or receiving votes. In a field of 263 runners, the Seminoles were aggressive at the start as three runners went out with the lead pack. Alyson Churchill paced the Noles, crossing the finish line in 51st with a time of 20:33.0, which was her personal best. Emmy Van den Berg followed in 83rd at 20:46.9 ahead of Agnes McTighe (20:57.5) in 111st. Rebecca Pottorff was the fourth runner for the Noles at 21:19.3 (167) and Caitlin Wiley rounded out the scoring (186), posting a time of 21:28.40, whic

Career Bests Power Noles at FSU Invite

Results Tallahassee, Fla.   –  The Florida State cross country teams competed in the sole home meet of the season on Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park. Racing in ideal conditions, the Noles certainly excelled on their home course as nine scoring runners logged personal best collegiate times. The men took second place, scoring 87 points in the 8K, led by redshirt junior Matthew Newland in seventh place. His time of 24:34.9 was a personal best along with Anderson Ball (24:46.7), Coleman Cronk (24:58.6), and Wynne Thomas (25:04.1). Ball finished next in 14th followed by Colby Otero in 18th, Cronk in 21st, Thomas in 27th, and Matthew Owens in 59th (25:42.4). “I was really pleased with the guys,” said head coach Bob Braman said.  “Several of these guys have a chance to be on our ACC team, so we looked at this race as a hard effort and we trained through it and ran hard. Most of the guys ran personal bests on tired legs. Our depth is even better than we thought it would be.�

Noles Notch Two Top 3 Finishes

FAIRBURN, Ga.   –  Members of the No. 29/18 Florida State cross country teams competed in the collegiate races at the Alexander Asics Invite in Fairburn, Ga., at Bouckaert Farms on Saturday morning. Redshirt freshman Zach Cloud was the winner of the men’s 8K, crossing the line with a time of 25:09.23, just under six seconds ahead of the next competitor. “Zach Cloud had the highlight for today,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “It was really nice to see Zach come in and run a great race and it looked like he had more in the tank too. He could potentially step up for us and today was a great breakthrough for him.” In the women’s 5K, Rebecca Bergnes took bronze, finishing with a time of 17:44.30, which was just off her personal best (17:42.6).  Bergnes led the Seminoles to a second place finish with a total of 84 points. “Becky ran really well,” Braman said. “She’ll be another one that will be in hunt for our ACC team.
