Coke Oven police station, acting on a specific tip-off, nabbed two drug peddlers and seized 500 grams of brown sugar from their possession near a bus stand in Durgapur late last night.
Protesters from Samrala’s Mushakabad village and nearby areas staged a protest on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh highway against the construction of a biogas plant in the village. Commuters suffered as the road was jammed near a private school in Dayalpura village. The protesters demanded the work on the plant be stopped and it be shifted from the village.
A vaccine manufacturing plant coming up at Odisha Biotech Park is likely to start commercial production by May. Once fully operational, this facility will be the biggest vaccine producing plant in the country. The plant is being built at an investment of Rs 1,500 crore and is led by Dr Krishna Ella of Bharat Biotech. It is likely to create 1,500 direct employment with most of them being hired from the state.
