Coca-Cola Amatilâs 50-year life on the Australian stock exchange is set to come to an end after Coca-Cola European Partners raised its takeover bid to $13.50 a share, satisfying major shareholders who had indicated the initial offer was too low.
Following intense negotiations over the weekend, Coke Europe agreed to lift its $12.75 a share offer for Amatil by 5.9 per cent after taking into account the bottlerâs improved trading in the December quarter and lower net debt.

The new offer is likely to win over major shareholders such as Dublin-based Setanta Asset Management, Martin Currie Australia, Antares Capital, and Pendal Group, who previously said the price undervalued the business, and hedge funds who bought stock in recent months in the expectation the bid would be raised.
