The Worland Warrior Wrestling team started their season this weekend in Cody. Friday afternoon The Warriors would face the Cody Broncs in their first dual of the 2020-2021 season. The 106 pound weight class would be a forfeit all weekend for the Warriors. The State of Wyoming’s number one ranked wrestler at 106 pounds was in quarantine this week. Anthony Martinez will be out for the Battle in the Big Horns as well. Worland beat Cody 54-19 with 9 falls by the Warrior Wrestlers.
Worland would then face pre-season number one ranked Wyoming 4A Natrona County

The Cody Bronc Wrestling team officially gets their 2020-2021 campaign underway this wekend. This will the the first competitive wrestling the Cody grapplers have had against someone other than themselves for the first time this year. Taking a look at the Bronc grapplers as they get set to host their first event of the season.
Last year Cody Broncs took home sixth place at the State Tournament. As 2020 gets underway just two of the five Broncs that placed at state return to the team this season. Brady Deming returns after finishing fourth at 145 pounds a year ago. Grayson Beaudrie was fifth at 170 pounds a year ago. Those two look to be key cogs for the Broncs this year.
The Worland Warrior will have six duals in two days over the weekend. I asked Head Wrestling Coach Jose Garcia about the schedule. ” I want matches, even if it’s the same kid.” The Warriors travel across the Big Horn Basin to Cody on Friday. Worland will have three duals and face the Cody Broncs at 1pm. Natrona County Mustangs at 3:30pm and will finish Friday with a dual against Sheridan at 6pm.
Saturday the Warriors will stay in the Big Horn Basin and head to Powell where they will face Natrona County again at 9am, Sheridan for the second time in two days at 11:30am and will complete the weekend of duals against the Riverton Wolverines at 4:30pm. “We want to wrestle and get as many matches as we possibly can.” Coach Garcia would say.
