The Edmonton Oilers played a strong game, out-chancing the Winnipeg Jest, but they’re nonetheless now in a deep, deep hole.
Paul Statsny’s outside shot in overtime was screened by both Dmitry Kulikov and Adam Larsson and found its way past Mike Smith.

In a season where nothing is normal and we should expect the unexpected, it comes as no surprise that you can be on a roll and covered in dust at the same time.
The Edmonton Oilers are both right now as they prepare to dive into the final 11 games of the regular season. Their 9-3-2 record in their last 14 games is one of the hottest in the NHL, but they’ve only played three games in the last 15 days.

The mother of a truck driver stabbed to death during a botched robbery nearly six years ago forgave her son’s killer in an Edmonton courtroom Tuesday.
Richard William Rockey, 49, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for his role in the 2015 death of Randal Evans, a trucker from Olds.

Evans was sleeping in his cab when Rockey and two other men broke into the truck. Evans fought them off and managed to start the vehicle when Rockey leapt onto the running board and bashed in the driver’s side window with a pipe.

While the Ministry of Energy and Resources says that its approach of collaborating with industry to safely decommission non-producing wells and restore the land to its former state is producing better results than the colossal cleanup mess facing Albertans, Saskatchewan’s weak regulatory regime still leaves much to be desired.
